The Thrombosis and Haemostasis Laboratory at Aarhus University Hospital is a highly specialised laboratory dedicated to comprehensive diagnostic work-up and clinical evaluation of acute bleeding, bleeding disorders and thromboembolic risk assessment. We offer a comprehensive test panel and provide expert interpretations of coagulation test results and consultations regarding diagnosis of coagulation disorders.

The laboratory runs 24 hours a day including available telephone consultation with specialised medical doctors to assist our clients in interpreting coagulation analyses and to advise in advanced patient haemostasis management.

Besides standard coagulation tests, we offer coagulation tests within the following areas:

Acute bleeding:
Thromboelastometry (ROTEM®), platelet aggregation (Multiplate®Analyzer)

Bleeding disorders:
All coagulation factors for diagnosis of haemophilia (coagulation factor II, V, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII assays) and inhibitor analyses as well.

Markers of von Willebrand disease (von Willebrand antigen, von Willebrand ristocetin cofactor, von Willebrand multimerer, von Willebrand: Collagen binding assay).

Platelet disorders is diagnosed by impedance aggregometry and flow cytometry.

Antithrombotic treatment:
Anti-Xa-assays (Low-molecular heparins, Apixaban, Rivaxoraban), Hemoclot® (Dabigatran), and platelet aggregation during antiplatelet therapy.

Thrombophilia screening:
Antiphospholipid antibodies (lupus anticoagulant, cardiolipin antibody IgG and IgM, beta2-glycoprotein IgG and IgM), Protein S free antigen and total antigen, protein C activity and total antigen, antithrombin functional, factor V Leiden mutation, factor II mutation.

Other specialized analyses:
ADAMTS-13 profile, Diagnosis of Heparin-Induced-Thrombocytopenia by POCT-analysis.
