The Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care East Section at Aarhus University Hospital is dedicated to highly specialised intensive and postoperative care and anaesthesiology within thoracic and gynaecological surgery for adults, children and infants. The department offers a complete range of state-of-the-art services meeting to the highest international standards such as specialised anaesthesia service for heart transplantation surgery and pulmonary endarterectomy, ECMO, assisted device treatment, and specialised chronic respiratory insufficiency care. The department offers in-patient as well as out-patient services.
The Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care East Section at Aarhus University Hospital is also internationally renowned for its absolute cutting edge contribution to the development of modern point-of-care ultrasound for bedside diagnostics and interventional procedures. In particular, the department is acknowledged and highly reputed for the development of the FATE protocol, that is implemented worldwide for the purpose of bedside-focused assessment using transthoracic echocardiography.
