The purpose of Aarhus University Hospital – Sick Kids is to establish a brickless network for research in children and adolescents (0-18 years) at Aarhus University Hospital and Aarhus University.

Initiators:

  • Jens Christian Djurhuus, Professor, Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University
  • Vibeke Hjortdal, Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, Aarhus University Hospital, Professor
  • Søren Rittig, Department of Paediatrics, Aarhus University Hospital, Department Chair

The network creates a platform for all interested parties within research in children and adolescents. The intention is to focus on the collaboration between paediatric and adult medical specialities to facilitate and stimulate a continued and intensive research effort at high international standard and to use the synergy between specialities.

One of the first tasks for the initiators is to create an overview of interested parties and facilitate easy access to knowledge on a shared website.

The website includes a presentation of the research areas in the network; the background, current research projects, milestones achieved, key publications and contact information for researchers.

The website gives an overview of the most important areas within research in children and adolescents and in this way facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing between groups of researchers. The website can also be used by future research talents looking for involvement in research projects.

A seminar is arranged later this year where all interested parties will present relevant research kaleidoscopically to further strengthen the collaboration. The seminar also includes thought stimulating contributions from representatives of the network’s international collaborators in Toronto (Hospital for Sick Kids

The group of initiators hope the website will be useful and contribute to support future initiatives within research in children and adolescents.
