Getting a job with AUH

At Aarhus University Hospital, we do not have a central organisation that deals with unsolicited applications. As a public organisation, we have to advertise for all positions, and for that reason Aarhus University Hospital does not recruit on the basis of unsolicited applications.

All available positions at Aarhus University Hospital are listed on the website www.auh.dk/job/ and we urge you to apply only for specific vacancies.

At the moment most positions are only described in Danish.

Coming to Denmark - what you need to know

If you are a future international employee at the hospital coming to Aarhus, there is a lot of help to find when you arrive, and there are several important practices you need to take care of depending on where you are from.

Upon your arrival you will need to:

Step 1

Register with the Citizens Service Office (Borgerservice) and apply for a proof of registration or a residence card with the State Administration for Central Jutland (Statsforvaltningen). Non-EU citizens must bring their residence and work permit. After 2-4 weeks you will receive your Danish CPR number (civil registration number) and National Health Certificate (health insurance card).

Step 2

Register with the Danish Tax Authorities to obtain a tax card.
- Note that foreign researchers and key employees can register for a special tax scheme with 26% flat rate tax, but you have to apply before starting the job.

Step 3

Open a Danish bank account as soon as you have your CPR number. If you register this account as your NemKonto (Easy Account) your salary will automatically be paid into that account.

Step 4

Sign-up for a private insurance (third-party/liability, accident and home insurance).

Please notice that in Denmark employers are obliged to take out occupational injury insurance. You are covered by your employer’s insurance in connection with your job, but not as a private person.

The International Citizen Service

The International Citizen Service is a one-stop-shop for newly arrived residents of Denmark. The purpose of International Citizen Service is to make it as easy as possible for foreigners upon their arrival in Denmark. It is the central point of access to all relevant authorities for foreign employees and their accompanying families, and for foreign jobseekers upon their arrival in Denmark.

They offer face-to-face assistance with applications for the tasks mentioned above. The following authorities are represented at International Citizen Service Aarhus:

  • Workindenmark
  • The Danish Immigration Service
  • The Danish Tax and Customs Administration (SKAT)
  • The regional state administration
  • Citizens’ Services of Aarhus Municipality.

The International Community

It is a good idea when moving to Aarhus to visit the International Community.
