Department of Infectious Diseases diagnoses and treats patients with febrile conditions, infectious or contagious diseases and immune deficiency diseases. The department has extensive diagnostic facilities for patients with acute, chronic or recurrent fevers and state of the art treatment facilities for patients with chronic and acute infectious diseases including advanced isolation facilities for highly transmissible diseases.
The department has 24 beds for inpatients, an outpatient clinic and a special unit for patients with immune deficiency diseases. The aim of the department is to ensure the latest evidence-based treatment and care for patients and to maintain an attractive working environment for staff.
The clinical services at the department are supported by the Research Unit where many professions collaborate on conducting research which can be translated into clinical practice within the foreseeable future. The department collaborates with acknowledged research groups both nationally and internationally.
