Research

Our main project are build around the understanding of the interplay between HIV and the immune system. We do basic science on the innate immunity and HIV, run small investigator initiated studies, and participate as clinical research center in larger clinical trials. The aim is to develope drugs / vaccines that effectively regulate the immunesystem and reactivate HIV latency resulting in efficient prevention and a cure of HIV.

The research within the Department of Infectious Diseases aims at providing future patients with a better treatment. We think of every clinical situation being a research opportunity in order to increase our clinical quality. The entire clinical staff (doctors, nurses, service providers etc) are all obliged and encouraged to take part in the research proces. In particular we strive to give young employes a research carreer that can be combined with their clinical carreer. We count around 15 full time researchers and 20 part time researchers.
