The Department of Neuroradiology has several highly specialized diagnostic procedures and treatment procedures. These procedures are centred round the close cooperation with our clinical partners in order to ensure efficient patient flow and high quality in diagnosis and treatment of all diseases related to head, neck and spine.
The department plays a vital role in the primary set up for diagnosis of cancer, in the planning of treatment and in the evaluation of treatment response. This includes tumours in the central nervous system as well as in the head and neck.
Aarhus University Hospital has a large Emergency Department including a highly specialized level 1 traumacenter. The Department of Neuroradiology is responsible for all the acute neurodiagnostics in both the traumacenter and the Emergency Departments as well as in most of the other departments of the hospital.
The research in Department of Neuroradiology is mainly focused on diagnostic imaging in stroke, evaluation of brain tumours, and outcome after thrombectomy. The research at the department is carried out in the research department associated with the clinical department, at Center of Functionally Integrative Neuroscience (CFIN) and in collaboration with other departments within the Head-Neuro Centre at Aarhus.
