We primarily use mice, rats and pigs in our research, but we also do  experiments with snakes, turtles, ferrets and dogs. While mice and rats are traditionally used laboratory animals with a lot of available animal models, pigs are used due to their large size enabling  repeated blood sampling. Furthermore, results obtained in large animal experiments can often instantly be applied to human PET protocols. We have also some experiments with scanning of privately owned dogs. They are clinically scanned, but always as a part of our ongoing research.
