In August, Dr. Claus Simonsen and his team at Aarhus University Hospital have enrolled their 100th patient in the WAKE-UP stroke project.

WAKE-UP is a collaborative european research project - the core of WAKE-UP is an investigator-initiated randomized controlled trial of MRI based thrombolysis in patients waking up with stroke symptoms.

From the start of the WAKE-UP, Aarhus University Hospital have been the most successful trial site with regards to patient enrollment. We have asked Claus Simonsen, who is also the National Coordinator of WAKE-UP in Denmark, how they manage to be that successful in enrolling patients in our trial.

“I think it is key, to have a highly committed team that is available 24/7 and who are open to new ideas and studies”, explains Claus. “Scientific studies are a part of everyday life”.
