Head of Innovation and Development at Aarhus University Hospital, Karen Ingerslev, met with the famous innovation researcher Eric Von Hippel at MIT, Boston.
Karen Ingerslev, working with cross-sectorial projects between Aarhus University Hospital, Aarhus Municipality on innovation and involvement of patients and citizens, has just come home from a visit to MIT, Sloan School of Management in Boston.
She was invited by professor Eric Von Hippel. For the last 30 years, Von Hippel has been a researcher in the field of innovation and he has invented the concept he calls lead users. Lead users face needs for a product or service months or years before the general marketplace and they benefit significantly from obtaining a solution to their needs. In this way lead users are key players in future innovations.
Among other things Karen participated in a so-called Innovation Lab Meeting on the emerging future of patient-producer medical innovation. She brings home valuable insight and inspiration to continue her work with innovation and user involvement at Aarhus University Hospital.
