The hospital recently received two international prizes for their service logistics.

Service Logistics is one of the IT strategic focus area at Aarhus University Hospital (AUH) to ensure adequate and efficient handling of logistics to the benefit of patients when the new hospital facilities are finished in 2019. The basic idea behind service logistics has been an integrated part of the construction process building the new university hospital as well as the daily operation at AUH. The Danish companies Systematics (IT), Cetrea (clinical logistics) and Lyngsoe Systems (logistical solutions) have also been a part of the collaboration.

The underlying reference architecture is now a national Danish standard, and service logistics will be implemented at more hospitals in Denmark and abroad e.g. in Australia, Scotland, Norway and Finland. Service logistics is ground-breaking internationally because it uses sensor technology and international standards at an unprecedented level within the healthcare sector. AUH has recently received two prizes for this.

In Düsseldorf, Germany on 27 September 2017, AUH was awarded the "RFID & Wireless IoT Research & Solutions Award 2017" for the hospital’s decision to use item identification and localisation to support important hospital processes. The jury stressed that application of these technologies also strived to improve patient safety.

In Chicago, USA on 19 October 2017, AUH was awarded the GS1 Healthcare Provider Advisory Council Award 2017" for world’s best implementation of GS1 standards at a hospital. GS1 standards are used internationally in several businesses. Standards offer IT support to all parts of the supply chain facilitating exchange of data, orders, invoices and bar codes and enabling tracing of goods.
