International professor to strengthen research in physiotherapy and occupational therapy

As of September 1st, 2017, the Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at Aarhus University Hospital will host its first professorship.
From September 2017 to September 2022, Professor Maurits Van Tulder from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam will serve as a visiting professor in Evidence-based physiotherapy and occupational therapy at Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at Aarhus University Hospital and Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University. The purpose of the visiting professorship is to strengthen departmental research in methods for examining and treating patients
Maurits Van Tulder is an internationally acclaimed professor in Helth Technology Assessment at the Vriije Universiteit, where he is the head of Department of Health Science. His research focuses at clinical and economic evaluations of health care interventions, particularly within the field of musculoskeletal diseases. In addition, Maurits van Tulder is specialized in conducting systematic literature reviews, and is currently the co-editor of the Cochrane Back and Neck Group.
Head of Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at Aarhus University Hospital, Helle Kruuse-Andersen and Morten Albæk Skrydstrup, state that it is with great joy that the department has been able to attract an international capacity such as Maurits van Tulder. Thereby the department can strengthen and support the superior goal of Aarhus University Hospital to provide cutting-edge knowledge and superior treatment to the benefit of the patients.
It is the first time that the department will host a visiting professor. For several years, the department has sought to strengthen research with the goal providing evidence-based clinical practice. With the recruitment of Maurits van Tulder this goal has come closer.
