Daniel W. Kjær from Aarhus University Hospital is the second surgeon to pass the examination in gastrointestinal cancer surgery.

 

The European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) has started to define common European standards for training and education of medical specialists in evidence-based treatment of a number of specialities

 

In connection with the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus congress in Vienna, Austria 16-19 September, Daniel W. Kjær from Department of Surgery at Aarhus University Hospital was the second Danish surgeon to pass the examination in upper gastrointestinal surgery.

 

Prior to the examination, Daniel W. Kjær has spent six weeks in Japan and studied comprehensive literature within the field. Daniel W. Kjær is now a Fellow of the European Board of Surgery (F.E.B.S.) in acknowledgement of the high professional competence and high-level expertise acquired with the certificate.

 

The certification will ensure that upper gastrointestinal cancer surgery at Aarhus University Hospital will be performed at a high international level in accordance with evidence-based guidelines.
