Betina Sørensen, consultant at Department of Clinical Immunology at Aarhus University Hospital is elected chairman of the European Committee on Quality Assurance and Safety in Blood Banks  

Betina Sørensen has been appointed chairman of the expert committee setting standards for all blood banks in the EU.

The Committee on Quality Assurance in Blood Transfusion Services prepares the standards for treatment, use and quality assurance of blood and blood components issued by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM) in Strasbourg and the European Council.

The standards include guidelines to all professionals working with blood transfusion, including national authorities, blood centres and blood banks at hospitals. The EU Commission recommends that all member states comply with the guidelines issued by the expert committee.

Betina Sørensen is a consultant at Department of Clinical Immunology at Aarhus University Hospital and chairman of Danish Society for Clinical Immunology.
