Improving long term function

Research in renal transplantation aims at improving long term function of the renal grafts and the well-being of patients.

Biomarkers for early detection of ischaemia and renal lesions are tested, in porcine and clinical settings.

Methods for detection of overimmunosuppression are being explored in clinical transplantation. FOocus is on e.g. Epstein Barr virus.

In procine models strategies to assess and imrove kidneys for transplantation during macine perfusion are tested, eg. mRNA therapy.
