Purpose: A national investigator-driven, multi-centre, randomised assessor-blinded clinical trial. Patients with symptoms of large vessel occlusion (LVO) and without a contraindication for intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) are randomized to either transport directly to a comprehensive stroke centre (CSC) for IVT and endovascular treatment (EVT) or to a primary stroke centre (PSC) for IVT and subsequent transport to a CSC for EVT, if needed. We hypothesize that bypassing the PSC will result in improved 90-day functional outcome for all patients with acute ischemic stroke.
The aim is to include 600 patients in collaboration with the prehospital services.
Study period: 01 Sept 2018-31 Aug 2022
