50 international experts gathered for the 4D workshop that focused on the challenges of treating moving targets in the thorax and abdomen with particle therapy. DCPT hosted the 15th edition of the workshop that previously took place at e.g. the Swiss Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in 2023, HollandPTC in Delft, the Netherlands, and MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Texas, USA.

The meeting programme covered research and clinical experiences of 4D treatment techniques including adaptive particle therapy, motion management, treatment in Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) and respiratory gating. 15 mini-orals presented cases and examples from participating centres. The conference dinner took place at the local art museum, ARoS, and the meeting was wrapped up with a DCPT facility tour.

The local organisers were senior consultant & associate professor, Hanna Rahbek Mortensen,

PhD, medical physicist, Line Bjerregaard Stick, Professor of medical physics, Per Rugaard Poulsen, and Professor of medical physics, Stine Korreman, with Barbara Knäusl, PhD, Medical University of Vienna, Department of Radiation Oncology.

‘It was a pleasure to host such a dedicated group of professionals who created a vibrant meeting filled with engaging discussions,’ says Hanna Rahbek Mortensen.

The organisers would like to thank speakers, participants, and all contributors for creating an interesting and dynamic meeting.

The next 4D workshop will be in Maastricht in 2025.
