The Ellen Gleditsch Prize was awarded today to Research Director and Professor Cai Grau in Oslo. To mark the launch of proton therapy at the Radium Hospital at Oslo University Hospital this week, a CCC seminar was held today.
In an invited lecture, Cai Grau provided insight into the current state of proton therapy and offered his perspective on where the field is heading in the coming years.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of the prestigious Ellen Gleditsch Prize, which honors outstanding research in proton therapy. The prize was presented by former director of the Radium Hospital, Jan Vincents Johannessen.
‘I am honored to receive this distinguished award and delighted by the strong collaboration between Norway and Denmark in the field of proton therapy. Congratulations to the Proton Centre in Oslo on treating its first patient this week,’ said Cai Grau.
This is the second time the prize has been awarded. Last year’s recipient was Marco Durante from Darmstadt, Germany.
Congratulations to Cai Grau on this recognition, and warm regards to our colleagues in Norway!
