Specialised Functions
The department offers several specialised functions including:
- Quantitative EMG including single fibre EMG and motor unit number estimation (MUNE). A video demonstration of quantitative emg and quantitative interference pattern analysis (peak-ratio) can be seen at the bottom of this page.
- Nerve conduction studies using near-nerve needle technique
- Magnetoencephalography (MEG) for localisation of the epileptic foci
- Polysomnography (PSG) and multiple sleep latency test (MSLT) in patients with sleep disorders
- 24-hour video-EEG monitoring of neuro-intensive care patients and epilepsy patients
- Ultrasonography of nerves and muscles
- Excitability studies of brain (threshold-tracking TMS), nerves (threshold-tracking) and muscles (muscle velocity recovery cycle)
- Laser evoked potentials (LEPs) and tests of the autonomic nerve system
- Advanced electroretinography (ERG) and electrooculography (EOG) in the diagnosis of retinal disorders
- Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IOM), e.g. during spinal cord and brain tumour surgery
- EMG and nerve conduction studies for diagnosing pelvic floor dysfunction
