There is increasing focus on rehabilitation in cancer patients both physiologic as well as psychological during and after treatment for their cancer.

The Tumorsection is running a PhD study on rehabilitation after treatment of soft tissue sarcomas arising in the upper and lower limb.

The study consists of both physiologic and psychological aspects after treatment.

Half of the patients are randomized to extensive postoperative rehabilitation programme with Loop training for 2 month whereas the other half receives the standard rehabilitation provided by their local rehabilitation centre.

Patients are evaluated prior to surgery with various reproducible tests (such as timed up and go), questionnaires (psychological) and testing of strength and mobility of surround joints.

All tests are repeated with follow up 1 and 3 months after surgery.

The PhD study is run in collaboration with Department of Neurology, Aarhus University Hospital, Institute of Psychology, AarhusUniversity and Department of Public Health – Section for Sport Science Aarhus University.
