Screening kidney transplant candidates for cardiovascular disease - The clinical significance and complications of routine computed tomography angiography

This project aims to improve cardiovascular screening in kidney transplant candidates by combining renal and cardiology expertise to examine the clinical impact and potential complications of routine CT angiography. It will explore:

  1. If systematic CT angiography screening allows better prediction of cardiovascular disease in kidney transplant candidates than traditional risk assessment.
  2. The extent to which CTA leads to further investigations, inverventions and complications, including contrast-induced nephropathy.
  3. If additional information on cardiovascular risk may be obtained by evaluation of aortic calcification using CT angriography.
