Services

A dedicated horizontal beam room is available for research at the Danish Centre for Particle Therapy since October 2019.

  • Horizontal proton pencil beam scanning beam with the same beam quality as in the three clinical gantry rooms (energy range: 70-244 MeV, fixed angle: 90°, beam current range on target: 0.5-15 nA, max. field: 30x40 cm2, max dose rate: 10^6 MU/min, SAD: 228 cm)
  • Water phantom and set-up for irradiation of biological samples (at Spread-out-Bragg-Peak, at the distal edge, or in transmission mode)
  • Epson Expression 12000XL Pro scanner and Gafchromic film dosimetry
  • Dedicated in vivo and in vitro laboratory for visiting scientists

Infrastructure

Currently, the beam at the Danish Centre for Particle Therapy is available for internal and external researchers after clinical hours. All users are provided with personal dosimeters. Solid water blocks are available to adjust the experimental set-up. Other modifications of experimental conditions (including beam parameters) may be possible in order to satisfy the user's requirements. A close collaboration with the Department of Experimental Clinical Oncology, Aarhus University Hospital, supports the handling of the animals and cells.
